South Africa 72-31 Fijian Pearls

What happened: The world fifth ranked South African ‘Spar Proteas’ walloped the Fijian Pearls  72-31 at Suva’s Vodafone Arena in the first match of the Digice/Punjas netball series.

The South Africans, who have just finished a series with Australia, England and New Zealand, were match hardened and last night it showed.

But Fijian Pearls head coach Vicky Wilson commended defender Episake Kahatoka.

“Episake was best player on court, she was explosive, she came outside the circle and played good attacking game,” Wilson said.

The visitors had a strong start in the first quarter with quick movement in their attacking area and with the leadership of Bongiwe Msomi in the mid court.

Kahatoka played a good defensive role but was not enough to stop the Africans as they led 18-9 in the first quarter.
