Accepting the cheque on behalf of RFMF  Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, who is currently on official duty in Canada, Lt Col Tuinaosara said the Fiji Sun had been a great supporter of the RFMF

Lieutenant-Colonel Kitione Tuinaosara is optimistic the Republic of Fiji Military Forces will regain the prestigious Ratu Sukuna Bowl at the ANZ Stadium on October 20.

The Forces director legal services made the comment yesterday when he accepted a $40,000 cheque yesterday from the county’s leading newspaper, the Fiji Sun.

Accepting the cheque on behalf of RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, who is currently on an official duty in Canada, Lt Col Tuinaosara said the Fiji Sun had been a great supporter of the RFMF. He said the sponsorship would help in their preparation to wrestle the prestigious trophy from the Fiji Police Force.

He said; “The trophy has been missing from the cabinet for three years and I’m confident we will win it this year,” he said.

Speaking before the presentation, the Fiji Sun managing editor special projects, Maika Bolatiki thanked the RFMF for the sincere commitment it gives to the Government and the nation.

The Fiji Sun had first come in at a time when no sponsor was there to help and would always stand by RFMF on all the work it was doing for the betterment of the people and the nation.

“We came in when no one was there to sponsor the RFMF,” Bolatiki said. He said Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas readily supported a request for support.

Bolatiki said the Ratu Sukuna Bowl competition was an event where not only rugby skills were displayed but also good leadership tested.

He also wished the security forces teams well and hoped that at the end of the day, rugby would be the winner.
