Some staff members of Jack’s of Fiji in Labasa sacrificed their day off to clean up the route from Labasa Hospital through Babasiga Town to Nasekula Road yesterday.

They joined the growing move by organisations, individuals and Government bodies in the anti-litter campaign.

They were spotted in Jack’s uniform with gloves and garbage bags in hand hard at work under the sun.

Jack’s of Fiji Labasa branch manager Alex Khan said this was the first time they had organised a clean-up campaign.

“As part of our social responsibility and community service we decided to collect all the rubbish from the road and drains from Labasa Hospital, in and around town and ended it at Nasekula,” Mr Khan said.

“Rubbish along this important route where there is always flow of traffic and pedestrians does not portray a good picture of civic pride.

“So we decided to beautify this area.

“I would like to thank all of them for their dedication and commitment apart from what they have been loyally performing while being at work through the week.

“I hope everyone would take responsibility of throwing their own rubbish in the rubbish bin which is provided by the Labasa Town Council at so many different locations.”
