A man last seen by his neighbour’s wife on Wednesday putting out his rubbish for collection at Lautoka was found dead in his house on Saturday.

Apisai Nagiga was found dead inside his 155 Ajodhiya Prasad Road home at 4pm on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed yesterday that the victim was staying alone at his home as his wife was working at an island resort.

The late Mr Nagiga’s neighbour, Joeli Cama alerted police after noticing flies around the house on Saturday.

“The Police officers then came to check on him and then we came to know that he was no more,” Mr Cama said.

“My wife had seen him last on Wednesday, 6th September when he took his household rubbish and placed it outside his house for collection.

“We did not hear or see him after that. He was a very hard working person and was a retired worker of Fiji Sugar Corporation.

“His body which had started to decay was taken by the officers.

“Mr Nagiga had stated to me that he was sick and had running stomach.”

Mr Cama also said that the late Mr Nagiga’s wife worked for a resort the Yasawa islands as a Chef and had been due to come home soon.

“We used to work for Goundar Builders in Lautoka as casual workers,” he said.

Ms Naisoro has confirmed that the body of the late Mr Ragiga is being kept at the Lautoka Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem to ascertain the cause of his death.
