Peceli Nacebe believes the Fiji Airways Drua will be a better team when they face NSW Country Eagles at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this Saturday.

Nacebe and the Fiji Airways Drua team returned yesterday after taking part in the first two rounds of the Australian National Rugby Championships in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Playing at first five-eighth, he amassed 20 points (two tries and five conversions) in a superb seven tries to four, 45-24 win over Melbourne Rising at Harlequin Oval last Saturday.

In the opening game against Brisbane City at Ballymore Stadium two weeks ago, he was instrumental at fullback scoring two tries and a conversion in the 45-36 loss.

“Playing in front of the home crowd this weekend will be a different story altogether,” the Mavua, Nadroga native, said yesterday.

“It was a good outing for me personally, a great baptism of fire indeed as it was my first time to play in Australia. I did play well and improved in my second game learning from the mistakes in the first game.”

The policeman, who will turn 22 on September 27, is hoping to achieve more in his rugby career.

“The NRC has built my confidence and I hope to improve. But it’s all about learning and will work hard.

“We have a good bunch of great players and a good coach.  The more we play the better we will become,” he said.

Coach Senirusi Seruvakula said, Nacebe was still learning and a good performer.

“He is gaining confidence quickly, he can do anything in any area of the field,” he said.

“Nacebe is going to be a promising player, the Australians are looking at him. I hope that every game he plays, he will step up and become one of the best first five-eighths in the future.”

The Fiji Airways Drua – NSW Country Eagles match is scheduled at 3pm.
