The Navy rugby team gets a major boost ahead of the Suva Rugby Union Escott Shield semi-final against Army Green at the ANZ Stadium at 7pm tonight.

Major sponsor Fresh’et International Limited managing director Richard Chow donated a new set of uniforms worth $7500 yesterday.

This is the 22nd year Fresh’et has been sponsoring Fiji Navy.

“We believe in promoting sports in whichever way we can, especially with the young generation. We have been sponsoring Navy rugby for 22 years.

“During our journey there were unforeseen circumstances but we always stood by Navy rugby,” Chow said.

This season Fresh’et International Limited donated a total sponsorship of $25,000 in both cash and in kind.

Meanwhile, captain Jitoko Usumaki believes the sponsorship has boosted their morale ahead of the semi-final.

“We are thankful to Fresh’et for their kind contribution this will really boost us for the semi-final against Army.

“Army Green is not an easy team, they are the defending champion and they will be tough to beat but we will take each game at a time,” Usumaki said.

“We haven’t won the Escott Shield for three years now so this year we want to do our best.”
