Fiji is certainly a pure and exotic destination, says Times of India Director International Business Sameet Soni.

Mr Soni and his team were in the country and discussed opportunities in Fiji related to tourism, film and basically working on getting more Indian traffic into Fiji.

They had a meeting with the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Foya, and executives from Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, and Film Fiji.

The group were behind the Travelogue with the gorgeous, award-winning actress and Bollywood star Ileana D’Cruz who was in the country last June.

The Times of India is India’s biggest media company with its flagship, Times of India, the biggest circulation English-language daily newspaper in the world.

Mr Soni said: “We are looking for pure and exotic destination and Fiji certainly can be featured in that category.

“This is my first visit to Fiji and I believe everything is here. It would be nice for people to come and actually visit this place,” said Mr Soni.

“It has some distance to it but distance is not the only criteria.

“Almost 1.2 million of people from India every year travel to Singapore they can also come to Fiji because it is awesome, beautiful and, absolutely an untouched and absolutely natural.”

The team also visited properties on Denarau Island and the first beach club on its own island – Malamala Beach Club Fiji.

“Denarau Island has the offering that can, be absolutely elite,” he said.

“I know it is absolutely brilliant there is so much character to the place and, it is absolutely great,” he said, referring to the Malamala Beach Club Fiji.

The team arrived on our national airline Fiji Airways on Sunday and retuned to India on Tuesday.
