Fresh’et Navy and Police Blue have booked their spot in the Suva Rugby Union’s Escott Shield final.

Last night, Navy edged out defending Escott Shield champions Army Green 17-15 in the second semifinal at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Earlier on in the first semifinal Police Blue walloped Queen Victoria School Old Boys 36-8. The lawmen led 8-3 at halftime and went into the overdrive in the second half with experienced Suva flanker Samu Bola and Kaponi Paul leading the charge.

Police Blue coach Solomone Nute said they would need to improve if they are to win the final. “There are so many areas that we need to improve on.  First and foremost we need to control our set pieces,” Nute said.

“It will not be an easy battle in the final but we need to be prepared for that.”

QVSOB manager Tuvula Kinivuwai commended Police’s performance.

“This is the second time we reached the semi-final but we will keep trying,”Kinivuwai said.

“Playing the Police Blue or any of the Forces teams at this stage is very tough.

“We did prepare well but we played against a quality and a good Police side, we will try again next year,” Kinivuwai said.
