Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar yesterday thanked the Sathya Sai Services Organisation for playing a key role in serving the communities in Fiji continuously over the years.

She said this at the organisation’s National Convention at Ba Town Council Hall yesterday.

“I would like to thank the Sathya Sai Service Organisation for all the work you do to help us work towards a better and more inclusive Fiji,”Ms Akbar said.

She said Government recognised the unique role that faith played in “healing our nation and producing a population that is healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually.

“By working to create a more inclusive society, Sathya Sai is helping to build a stronger and more harmonious Fiji,” she added.

“Ethics and compassion are core ingredients that make a society virtuous.

“Without virtue, our Government’s efforts to achieve economic growth and national prosperity would be fruitless. Without spiritual prosperity of its citizens, Fiji’s coffers would never be full.”

The Minister also thanked the Sathya Sai Organisation for bringing together representatives of all religious faiths and denominations.

“Your Government shares this devotion; inclusivity is embedded in the Fijian Constitution, recognising all citizens as equal, regardless of background or religion, ”she added.

“I commend the Sathya Sai in cultivating the values of ‘Love, Truth, Right to Conduct, Non-Violence and Peace’ for these are the vaery values our country is aspiring to achieve in every aspect of development.”

President of Sathya Sai Service Organisation of Fiji Professor Rajat Gyaneshwar said the convention would focus mainly on practical suggestions as to how the organisation can contribute to nation-building.

The theme of the convention is An Ethical and Compassionate Society – A Nation’s True Wealth.

The convention ends today.
