Fullback Kolinio Radrovi scored twice in each half as the Snax Nadi Aviators edged Nasinu Titans 20 – 18 yesterday. The Aviators defended their title in the 2017 Vodafone Inter-Zone Championship Premier final at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

The Aviators took the lead with a penalty from Kavekini Varo in the 3rd minute.

Eight minutes later Radrovi scored to extend the lead 6-0.

In the 18th minute Josateki Senivonokula scored Titans first try which was converted by Josefa Qionimacawa to level the score 6-6 at  halftime.

Aviators Jim Navotokula extended their lead 8-6 with a penalty.

In the 46th minute prop Rusiate Saukuru scored and was converted by Navotokula, 14-6.

Radrovi scored his second try in the 62nd minute when he raced 40 metres to score in the corner, 18-6.

Veteran Asaeli Saravaki pulled one back for the Titans and converted by Eddie Qionimacawa 18-12.

Luke Nadurutalo split the defence to score and onverted by Nadurutalo to level the score 18-18.

The Titans were again penalised and Navotokula kicked the winning penalty, 20-18.


Aviators coach Vela Tawake praised his players.

“It was anybody’s game but congratulation to the boys, it was a tough match,” he said.

The team won $2,500 for their effort and will represent Fiji to face the winner of the PNG competition for the Melanesian Cup later in the year.

Titans coach Vula Dakuitoga said wrong options proved costly for them.

Meanwhile, the Lautoka Crusaders won the inaugural Vodafone Inter-zone women’s grade.

The sugar city side edged Nadroga Knights 26-24 in an all-western finale.

In the U20 grade, Kokomo Nadi Aviators hammered Nasinu Titans 24 6.
