Winner Rocky Donald recorded 1:12.08 to edge fellow Solomon Islander Junior Patrick who clocked 1:13.40.

“I’ve been taking part in triathlon for the last five years. It was tough especially with strong competition from Papua New Guinea and Solomon Island athletes. But it is good for an old man like me to be part of the event,” he said.

Rhys Cheer, 16, of Fiji pulled out of the competition after he suffered a muscle injury. He was leading the Under-16 age group when he got injured.

Lavenia Dickinson finished second (1:.24.01) behind winner Rachel James of PNG who clocked 1: 18.35.

Fiji Triathlon Association president Dave Dickinson said, the event was all about development.

“Three nations competed in this event with PNG always dominating.”

The event was supported by Oceania Triathlon Union, and sponsored by All Engineering, Coca-Cola, Fiji Water, Higgins Fiji Limited, Nadi Town Council and Fiji Force Police.
