The Batinikama football team have proved themselves by retaining the Super Premier Trophy of the Vodafone/ Bank of Baroda Vanua Levu Muslim Interdistrict Championship at Subrail Park, Labasa on Sunday.

In the final Batinikama beat Nasea 4-1 on penalty shootouts.

Batinikama football manager Yonas Ali said they played really well in their defence and prevented the opposition from scoring.

“This has been a good achievement for the boys and their families and not forgetting the supporters since we’ve won the title two-years in a row,” Ali said.

Sponsor Sheik Mohammed Faizal from Sydney, Australia was a proud man after witnessing the team win the Cup final.

“I’ve been sponsoring the team the last three years and after tonight’s performance I will be sponsoring the team for another three years,” Faizal said.

Nasea coach Roneel Ram was proud of his team’s performances even though they had been playing with 10 players throughout the tournament.

“Last year we won the plate final and this is a good year as we’ve reached the Cup final this year. Hats off to Batinikama, as they managed to defend their title this year.”
