Veteran bantamweight boxer, Ritesh Goundar, is returning to the ring. The 35-year-old has signed up to fight knockout king Shamal Ramanuj as an undercard to the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions set for Friday, October 13, at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The main bout is a 10-round super welterweight clash between unbeaten Siliveni Nawai and hard hitting Jese Ravudi of Naitasiri.

Goundar said he has been training for the past two months and is not going to underestimate his opponent.

“Even though I have been out of the game for quite some time, I’m going in prepared for Shamal,” he said.

“I’m going for a win and looking at a chance to get a title fight but I’ve to take it one game at a time.”

Goundar has eight fights under his belt since making his debut in 2002.

He has won three and lost five.

On the other hand Ramanuj, 24, is out to maintain his winning run. He has won all his three professional fights by knockout.

Ramanuj said he’s not intimidated by the fact that he would be fighting a much experienced boxer but is focused on bringing his best into the fight.

“I’m not scared of Ritesh, I’m not focusing on a knockout but more on bringing my best out,” the Mulomulo boxer from Nadi added.
