Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Paula Dranisinukula has been given the nod to captain the Fijians Barbarians 7s side to this weekend’s Oktoberfest 7s in Munich, Germany.

Dranisinukula told SUNsports that leading a team of new players who are trying to impress Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber would mean a much hungrier side.

“It’s an honour to lead a group of talented players who are going to Germany with the aim to win,” he said.

“All these players have been knocking on the selection door for some time. The drive to succeed is already there and we just need to go out and give our best and hopefully impress Baber.”

The Drauniivi, Ra native who made his debut at this year’s London 7s has captained the Army Green 7s side in tournaments around the country.

He hopes that fromer sprinters Uluiyata Batinisavu and Banuve Tabakaucoro would learn from the exposure.

He said having them in the side would give team an added advantage.

“The team is lucky having someone like Banuve and Uluiyata as they’re well known for athletics.

“I think they will prove themselves in the field when they’ve the ball.”

The Suva based- soldier said they’re hopeful of getting a positive result from the tournament.
