Local singer Elena Baravilala said she will continue to pursue her love for music after being signed by iDiglig Digital Records, a record label company based in Adelaide, Australia.

Ms Baravilala was officially signed by iDiglig Digital Records on September 22, 2017. She said she looked forward to cultivating partnerships with other artists in the Australian music industry.

“To be given an opportunity to go into Australian studios, work with different producers and industry connections and most importantly write and record my own original songs is unbelievable,” she said.

She said she was approached for the record deal on September 15, 2017 after iDiglig Digital Records label owner and current manager and producer Lee Gardinier, watched her rendition of Beyoncé Knowles “Sweet Dreams” through the YouTube channel.

“I’m thankful Mr Lee Gardiner found me through the internet and believed in me straight away.

“I credit my success to the amazing people who have supported my music this far, my family, and most importantly my country for inspiring me every day to write,” she said.

She said future plans include recording a new album in 2018 in Australia and Fiji, with a production team from iDigLig Records.

“As for the music, so far it’s a little different direction; my fans can expect high production, and some experimenting with some more traditional R & B sounds while remaining true to my sound. Also, lots of songs and collaborations with new artists in Fiji and Australia,” she said.

“IDigLig will give me the opportunity to have a much higher output in terms of song releases. I have lots of songs waiting to come out; the writing process has already started with my new team. The focus is on controlling what we can, and who buys of course, but we can ensure the music we put to the market is of the highest quality and it excites me to represent Fiji in this way.”

Ms Baravilala said she hopes to create new avenues for local artists next year during her visit to Australia to record new songs.

Current manager and producer Lee Gardinier said he was eager to work with Ms Baravilala.

“I didn’t need much convincing and Elena is a unique individual, with a powerful, beautiful voice and a message that really needs to be heard by as many people as possible. We cannot wait to have her visit our studios in Australia and explore this connection of art between two countries,” he said.

“What we can guarantee for Elena fans is lots of new songs in 2018, and we are excited to have the honour of hosting this music on her behalf.”

Meanwhile Ms Barivilala’s debut single “Seven” featuring Pauliasi has gone live worldwide through TIDAL, iTunes and Spotify. Edited by Mohammed Ali
