A mother of seven is left shattered following an early morning fire that destroyed the two bedroom home they have been living in for 13 years at the Nauluvatu Settlement outside Suva yesterday.

Camari Sivo, 38 and her family only had the clothes on their back as they were not able to save anything from the fire.

“This has been our house the last 13 years, this is my children’s home, where will we go now,” Ms Sivo cried.

“I have seven children and the house was all we had. We need to rebuild a home for them,” she cried.

Recalling the events of what happened Mrs Sivo said, “I was bathing my children to get them ready for school when I noticed something smelt like burning tyres coming from around the house. I checked the house but didn’t notice anything.

“I checked my daughters’ room and saw the curtains on fire. I ran to get water and tried to put the fire out but I couldn’t do anything. I called for help and our neighbours came, but we could not stop the fire.”

She suspects that a mosquito coil could have been the main cause of the fire.

The National Fire Authority is currently conducting its investigations.
