Mr Kaloumaira said a research about how the iTaukei people looked after their death (So mate) had been completed and now with the Roko Tui in the 14 provinces of Fiji.

The chair, Ruveni Naholo, asked about the research.

According to outgoing Deputy Permanent Secretary for the iTaukei Affairs Board (TAB) Brigadier-General Apakuki Kurusiga the findings from the research had been provided to the iTaukei Affairs Board to be presented at provincial and district levels.

He said it was now with the Roko Tui of the 14 provinces.

Brigadier-General Kurusiga said it was not about changes but about how the 14 provinces Fiji observed their death ceremony rituals

“They differ immensely,” he said.

He said no one could change the iTaukei culture and tradition.

Mr Kaloumaira talked about a Cultural Centre/Museum.

The museum will house iTaukei arts and cultural items in the villages of the 14 provinces.
