Two of the country’s top attackers who failed to turn up to camp with the national team will have to miss the pool matches of the 2017 Courts Interdistrict Championship.

The pair appeared before the Fiji Football Association’s disciplinary committee last Sunday.

They are Saula Waqa of Ba and Nadi’s Rusiate Matarerega. They’re suspended after they failed to inform the national team management about their absence.

Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said the Fiji FA disciplinary committee have heard their case and made the decision.

“The duo will be missing three IDC pool matches and were fined $300 each.

“The committee which comprises of three lawyers and other independent members have made their ruling and also issued them a final warning,” Yusuf said.

He said Fiji FA is serious when it comes to moving forward and this kind of behaviour by our national team members would not be tolerated.

“These two players opted not to attend camp and in doing so they’ve denied two other players the opportunity to be part of the national team.”
