The country’s best pound-to-pound boxers have become the target of top New Zealand boxers.

International boxing ring official Faiyaz Khan said high on the list is Sebastian Singh, unbeaten Siliveni Nawai, Jese Ravudi and veteran Abhay Chand.

“The promoters are hoping to get these Fijian boxers over to New Zealand for fights as early as December,” he said.

Khan said the New Zealand Boxing Commission is eagerly awaiting the outcome of Nawai’s fight against Ravudi which is set for Friday, October 13, at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

“They want to get Nawai over to fight Sam ‘The Terror’ Rapira for the World Boxing Organisation’s (WBO) Asia Pacific super middleweight title. Nawai has a good record and a promising career as well.”

Khan also indicated that Auckland based- welterweight boxer Sitaleki Maka is challenging Singh.

“Maka really wants to fight Sebastian. If boxing fans at home could remember Maka came over and stopped Junior Farzan Ali within two rounds under the Toe-to-Toe promotions.”

Khan said the future looks bright for the local boxers and pointed out that Nawai’s fight against Ravudi is going to be another thriller.
