Bachelor Latest Road Victim, Driver in Custody

A family of Votualevu is mourning the loss of a 42-year -old bachelor who died on Saturday morning after he was alleged hit by a vehicle at the Nadi back road the night before.

Dead is Sevuloni Ramuwai, a security guard originally from Vatukoula and has been residing in Nadi the past few years.

Police confirmed the incident where he was allegedly hit by a car driven by a 30-year- old farmer.

The victim was rushed to the Nadi hospital before he was transferred to the Lautoka hospital due to the seriousness of the injury he sustained.

He passed away at 2.30am, according to Mr Ramuwai’s cousin Jale Nabenia.

Mr Nabenia said the family received the news early Saturday morning and was present at the hospital when he took his last breath.

The victim’s family described the deceased as a happy person who loved to socialize.

They were still coming to terms with it, especially his mother who was the last person to talk to him before he had left for work.

“His mother was the last person to talk to him ton Friday afternoon when he left for work,” said Mr Nabenia.

“We are still in shock, because we did expected this would happen to him as he was always a happy, enthusiastic person who loved to socialise.”

Mr Nabenia added funeral arrangements will be finalized at the family meeting today.

Police has confirmed the post-mortem is scheduled today.

The driver is in police custody.
