Vodafone Fijian Bati head coach Michael Potter strongly feels the two local players Etuate Bola and Pio Seci will need to communication better with the squad in camp.

Potter said the Nabua Broncos duo have been doing well in terms of preparations but would need to get out from their shell.

“The local players are blending in really well with other players but I’m trying to get them out of their shell, it’s difficult for me,”Potter said.

“The players and me are trying to get them out of their shell very quickly and communicate because it’s a team sport and for them to communicate with people beside them.

“The senior players know that they quickly should grab these young players and give them an understanding on how it’s like to be in the Bati team.”

Potter reminded the team it’s all about engaging with the community and their country.

“The players are building their own team culture and I’m facilitating them, we have a lot of team events and functions planned and community work which will build a strong team bonding.

“I’m reminding the players that they must remember it’s not about them it’s about the community, the country and the whole Bati team.”

Naiqama to lead

Vodafone Fijian Bati fullback Kevin Naiqama will lead the Vodafone Fijian Bati side to the Tri Nations this Saturday and to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup later this month.

The 28-year-old is Potter’s top choice.

“We have a good leadership group, probably Kevin will take on that role. We have other players like Jarryd Hayne, Eloni Vunakece, Ashton and Korbin Sims, they will take out some sorts of leadership roles in the team but it would be Kevin who will lead,” Potter.
