Striker Shalvin Singh came off the bench to score a brace of goals for Nadroga in the 5-2 victory over Rakiraki in the senior division clash during the 2017 Courts Inter-District Championship at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday.

Nadroga drew first blood when captain Tomasi Tuicakau scored in the 7th minute.

Halftime: Nadroga 1 – 0 Rakiraki.

Rakiraki started the second spell with a bang and scored n the 48th minute by Shirdhart Kumar.

Miscommunication between Rakiraki’s goal-keeper Saimoni Nabogi and defender Zainal Hussein caused the team an own goal.

Rakiraki through Shaheel Gounder equalised in the 53rd minutes.

Nadroga were unstoppable as Singh scored twice in the 75th and 78th minute respectively to lead 4-2.

Gerard Voi sealed the win by scoring the fifth goal in the 84th minute.

Comments: Nadroga coach Kaminieli Tuilawaki;

“The boys played a good game and this is what we needed for the senior division. We have a good chances of qualifying for the semi-finals and I know the boys will do well in our upcoming games.”

Rakiraki coach Pragdish Goundar said;

“We failed to prepare well but the boys gave their best shot.”
