It was a triple celebration for the students of Naleba Primary school in Labasa yesterday as they celebrated World Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day and Fiji Day.

Naleba Primary School head teacher Yentesh Reddy said they had to pack the three events into one to save time.

“Instead of having three separate programmes within two weeks we thought we’d save time packing them into one day,” Mr Reddy said.

‘The day is specifically for the teachers and students and it was a success,” he said.

“The students performed for the teachers, and the teachers also performed for the students.”

The school was filled with laughter and excitement as teachers and students celebrated the special day.

Students and teachers staged dramas, made speeches, sang songs and danced during the day.

Chief Guest Bijay Kumar reminded all the students, and teachers present of how Fiji was a beautiful country that all should take pride of their country.

“Fiji has made a lot of progress since independence and that is something we Fijians should be proud of,” Mr Kumar said.

Naleba Primary School head girl Ulamila Naitini said the annual event was exciting and it was something that everyone looked forward to.

“It is also important to celebrate and mark Children’s day because children are the future of our country.

Year Two teacher and programme coordinator Priyansha Narayan said she was impressed with the turnout at their celebration as it was enjoyable and special to everyone present.
