The Vodafone Fijian Bati’s Rugby League World Cup quarterfinals spot is all but assured following their sublime 72-6 win over Wales on Sunday.

But the Michael Potter –coached side need to keep the momentum and finish the job against Italy to top Pool D and face either New Zealand or Tonga in what should be a blockbuster quarterfinal next week.

With the spotlight seemed to always focus on star Jarryd Hayne for his superb touches, Bati’s new bloods are also grabbing the attention and making the headlines.

Leading the charge are Viliame Kikau who scored two tries and Suliasi Vunivalu’s three-try haul shows a devastating show of force from the new bloods playing in their first world cup.

Ben Nakubuwai, Salesi Fainga, Marcelo Montoya, Taine Milne and Joe Lovodua also scored and put on a show.

Commentators are already rating the current team far better than the ones that played at the 2008 and 2013RLWC.

Even without veterans Korbin and Tariq Sims, Kane Evans and Jayson Bukuya the new faces of the Bati have put an impressive show so far.

Fans are looking forward to another clinical display against Italy on Friday. The match kicks off at 9.40pm at Canberra Stadium.
