Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team head coach Gareth Baber says players need to reset and get it right on the last day of the Oceania Sevens Championships at the ANZ Stadium today.

The Fijians will play Cook Islands in their Cup quarterfinal at 11:30am.

This was after walloping New Caledonia 35-0 and American Samoa 24-5 during the pool games yesterday.

“We had two good wins, we lost a bit of concentration but we find ways to score tries.

“We lost a bit in our kick-offs but we are into the Cup quarters,” Baber said.

“There were few individual plays out there but we got to deliver what we want to deliver in the quarterfinal.”

Baber commended the defence structures.

“We worked well in our defence, we made some good tackles.”

In other quarterfinal matches, Australia play Papua New Guinea, New Zealand take on American Samoa and Samoa face Tonga.

New Zealand head coach Clark Laidlaw anticipates a challenging day two.

“It’s very encouraging to see our boys working well and hard.  There are no injuries under this humid weather and we hope it remains that way.

‘We looking forward to day two,” Laidlaw said.
