The crucial match against Estonia will be a great platform for the Vodafone Fijian football side as they build- up towards the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu next month.

The national team take on FIFA’s 80th ranked Estonia on Sunday, November 19, at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, team director and Fiji Football Association vice–president Tauresh Reddy said the 23-member squad are in camp but the final team will be named on Saturday.

“After the Estonia game most of the players will be participating in the Pacific Cup in Auckland from November 22 to 26,” Reddy said.

“The squad has been in camp for the last two weeks in Ba and will be shifting camp to Suva on Wednesday.

“We’re hoping to mould the 23 players together for this match and for the Pacific Mini Games as well.

“Playing against a tough European side allows more exposure for the side and I’m thankful that Estonia has accepted the invitation of coming over.

“We played two build-up matches against Lautoka on Saturday and another one today at Churchill Park which was a good for the players. I’m aware that Estonia is a very strong side as their ranking is better than us but we’re anticipated to give them a good run.

“Also, the reason why we are having a bigger squad is for back-up just in case if there is an injury amongst the players.

“But at the same time we can’t be rest assured that we will come out winners as we’re hopeful to learn a lot from them.”

Reddy also indicated that they would miss the services of Roy Krishna for this crucial clash.

“Roy Krishna will not be playing as according to FIFA we can’t bring players that are contracted outside the transfer window so eventually we cannot pressure Wellington Phoenix to release him.

“The national side will definitely miss him because of his experience in terms playing international football matches but we can’t do much.

“The game against Estonia is going to be a huge game for Fiji and we will be taking this game very seriously regardless of the result.”

Reddy has urged fans to come out in numbers and support the side on Sunday.

“The fans presence will be a great encouragement for the national side,” he added.
