Ratu Filise 7s team won the first Raka 7s title after defeating First Light Taveuni 17-10 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

The Namatakula team went home $25,000 richer while the runners-up from Taveuni received $5000.

First Light Taveuni scored the first try through Kasimino Reasi but Ratu Filise replied quickly with a try from Levani Tani to lead 7-5 at halftime.

Ratu Filise dominated the second half scoring their second and third try through Jone Qoro while the Vanua Levu team scored the second try through Glen Cakautini.

Ratu Filise coach Etika Tovilevu acknowledged the support of the fans.

“The sacrifice and dedication has paid off,”he said.

“The players played according to plan and I’m impressed with the win.

“Even though we don’t have national reps in our squad, the young players stepped up and we want to thank our supporters especially our families.”

Meanwhile, First Light Taveuni team manager Sakiasi Veioga congratulated Ratu Filise.

“Congratulations to Ratu Filise and we want to thank our families for their support,” Veioga said.

Nabsville Hire Nabua won the Shield final after defeating Punjas Navunisareki 17-7. In the Bowl final Daveta Development edging out Nakaiolo 12-7. Red Diamond won the Plate final after defeating Nawaka 21-14.
