Life will never be the same again for Laisani Dimulo after losing her husband Rusiate Vakalakovi who was found dead outside the Colonial War Hospital last week.

The late Mr Vakalakovi, 26, was originally from Naqaidamu, Koro.

They have two children, a five-year-old son and a three-week-old daughter and live at Nanuku Settlement, Vatuwaqa.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the victim was positively identified and investigators were continuing their investigations.

Ms Naisoro said a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

An emotional Ms Dimulo, 26, who hails from Nakalou Village in Macuata couldn’t control her tears as she described her husband.

“When I tell him something he listens and he was a good man. We will miss him,” she said.

“All our memories with him were good. He left on Wednesday saying he was going to a gathering. When he never returned, I was worried. I was going to contact the Police after 48 hours of him not returning.

“On Friday I got a call from my uncle saying for me to go to the hospital. My cousin called me and was asking for my husband. When they told me that he had died I didn’t believe it until I saw him in the mortuary.”

She explained how her son had responded to the whole situation.

“When someone asks my son where his father was, he would reply that he was sleeping at the hospital,” Ms Dimulo said.

“I will work hard so that I will look after my children. Yes, it will be hard but I will do everything in my power to make them happy.

“My daughter is only three-weeks-old and she will not have any memory of her father but I will tell her how much he loved both of them,” the young widow said.
