Fiji’s 100 per cent local bank, HFC Bank, has collaborated with the Fiji Electricity Authority to make the payment of bills much easier.

The FEA Bill Pay service was launched yesterday.

HFC acting chief executive officer Raj Sharma said: “This is for the convenience of our customers instead of working through the traffic or coming out of work [to pay their bills].

“It is one of the things you can do from your table at work and to ensure that your bills are timely paid.”

He added that the platform is accessible via its internet banking and mobile banking service.

“This is part of the development programme that HFC Bank has embarked on with providing added convenience to all its customers,” he said.

The Bill pay facility has been available since October this year and can now be used for the payment of FEA bills.

Fiji Electricity Authority chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said, “In this electronic and digital age, people have a very busy schedule.

“Therefore people do not actually wish to walk to any utility to pay their bills.

“They prefer to do it over their office or phone at anytime.”

Mr Patel said FEA’s customer centres usually operate from 8am to 4.30pm and most customers who are busy, do not have enough time to make it in time to pay their bills at those times.

So with the new online payment service, HFC customers do not have to worry about paying their bills.

The service will be available 24 hours and seven days in a week. Customers will be charged the normal transaction fee of 40cents.
