It will be an all Fijian affair with Mere Rodan and Akanisi Latu will be facing off in the Pacific Mini Games women’s Para Table Tennis final at the Kormon Stadium, Port Vila, Vanuatu.

“If either of us should win we are grateful because that is going to be for Fiji,” Rodan said.

What makes the match-up even more meaningful for the duo is that both athletes hail from the province of Lomaiviti.

Rodan is from Sinuvaca, Koro and Latu is from Vuma in Ovalau.

“That means so much because that is Lomaiviti taking the gold for Fiji,

“It is very special for us because these medals will not only be for Fiji but for the province that we come from,” Latu said.

Rodan said despite the fact they are teammates they would be out there playing their best.

Both athletes will strive to do their best.

“That is the beauty of sports, for us, whatever happens on the court will be left there on the court, because after the game we will be back to where we were before the game,”she said.

Their match was played late last night, when this edition went to press.
