Bishop-elect Henry Bull of the Anglican Church has discussed plans for the North during his term as leader of the Vanua Levu and Taveuni Episcopal Unit.

Bishop-elect Bull who will be ordained during a ceremony on Sunday at St Mary’s Primary School compound in Labasa, will succeed Bishop Apimeleki Qiliho who retired.

“I will be based in Dreketi. I have big plans for the Anglican Church but one in particular is to build more churches around the North,” he said.

“We need more lay ministers in the North. This is one of my plans too.”

A humble man who grew up on the outskirts of Dreketi and is of Australian descendant, Bishop Bull said: “I want everyone to know what Christ has done for them and to know who Christ is and to grow in Christ also.

“My leading is not about me but about God whose name is Jesus Christ, Whose love is unconditional and we need to lead the people to God through his love and not by our strength.

“I also believe that if we first identify God’s love and know that in the midst of our sins, God still loves us, we can break barriers,” he added.

Bishop Bull told of how he dropped out of school at an early age but knew that God had set plans for him.

“In 1985 I came to know God through a friend and since then He has been using me.

“I am excited and happy but I am expecting the role to be challenging as I will be looking after the Vanua Levu Anglican Churches,” he said.

“I was surprised when I was told that I would lead the Vanua Levu churches, past Bishops had masters and doctorates while I dropped out from school at a very young age due to financial issues and peer pressure but I thank God for His calling.”
