The Lautoka hotel located in the heart of the sugar city is expected to undergo a facelift by next year.

Director of Charan Jeath Singh Limited, Charan Jeath Singh said the company will demolish the old and construct a new hotel.

The construction of the hotel will commence after the completion of the on-going Labasa shopping and the Nakasi complex.

The project will begin next year 2018 with a total cost of around $15m.

He said this is one of the company’s biggest project next year.

Mr Singh said the completion of the hotel will help prevent people from Lautoka moving to Nadi and Suva in search of job opportunities.

“It is important to note how the government is recognising how the Western and Northern Division can further develop into a bigger business centre,” Mr Singh said.

Meanwhile, the Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa will also undergo refurbishment.

“There are more developments plans for the Northern Division like building more rooms for the Grand Eastern Hotel and others.

“We need to finish with the ones we are currently before continuing and more job opportunities too is expected for this project,” he said.
