RFMF Reminds Peacekeepers To Cater For Family Welfare

Fijian soldiers on peacekeeping missions have been reminded to remember and look after their families during the festive season.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) adviser to Commander and Peace Support Operations director Lieutenant-Colonel Pacolo Luveni reminded peacekeepers of the RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto’s Christmas message.
During their Christmas service Rear Admiral Naupoto stressed to men and women of the RFMF the importance of the welfare of their families.
Lieutenant-Colonel Luveni said Fijian peacekeepers on overseas missions were also peacemakers.
“As peacemakers, in fulfilling your service faithfully, you will in turn bring hope, joy and peace to the people you serve,” he said.
“The RFMF has given and provided you with the tools to complete your mission and tour of duty successfully.”
The last RFMF deployment for 2017 went to Iraq on Christmas day and will be back the same time next year.
Lieutenant-Colonel Luveni reminded the RFMF personnel that their work and security in Iraq would be compromised, if their families were not adequately catered for.
He told departing soldiers that they must ensure their families were cared for and looked after during their absence.
Lieutenant-Colonel Luveni also thanked family members for the continued and unwavering support to their fathers, husbands, sons, daughters, wives, and the RFMF.
“For being strong, faithful and keeping the family unit going during the one year tour of duty of their loved ones,” he added.
Meanwhile, our troops serving in the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq held their Christmas celebrations with carolling and feasting.
