BLK Nadroga Rugby will submit 40 names to the Fiji Rugby Union by the first week of April, 2018 to be contracted before the Skipper Cup competition starts.

One of FRU’s changes next season is for 40 players from the top eight teams to be contracted for the whole duration of the season.

Nadroga Rugby president Jikoibau Matawalu said this is one of the requirements from FRU for the players to be contracted and they are for it.

He also confirmed that the Skipper Cup competition starts on April 14.

Nadroga Rugby will launch their Super 8 competition following the Fiji Rugby Union’s provincial 10s tournament on January 15.

“This Super 8 competition will allow us to identify players who we’ll select for the trials. They need to prove themselves before we prepare our final 40 names for the season.”

The Nadroga Rugby senior team had their first trials for the new season at Lawaqa Park last Friday while the Under-20 trial was held on Thursday.

“We had a good turnout at the trials. We had 100 players turning up for the U20 trials while 150 for the senior division. The trial was also to give chance for outsiders who are not part of our system and wish to represent Nadroga to try out and showcase their talents,” he added.
