Police Urges To Take All Necessary Safety Precautionary Measures During Celebrations

With all the celebrations planned throughout the four policing Divisions we are urging members of the public to take all necessary safety precautionary measures.
The usual New Years traditions should be practiced with caution such as the use of fire crackers, bamboo guns and the throwing of water.
Officers are right now going around creating awareness and warning communities about the dangers of throwing water on moving vehicles as it is a serious safety concern.
Despite advisories and warnings we receive reports about this practice every year and we are urging parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s activities as it is often young children and youths who are involved.
If you’re planning on leaving your homes, ensure it is secure and do let your relatives and neighbours know.
Ensure all fire hazards are thoroughly checked and switch off all unused electrical appliances.
In everything you do to herald in the New Year ensure it is done in a responsible and safe manner and be mindful of others rights to enjoy theirs too.
Our Divisional Command Centres can be contacted throughout the night on the following numbers;
SD COMMAND – 9905529
WD COMMAND – 9905457
ED COMMAND – 9905563
ND COMMAND – 9905722
