Former national 7s rep Savenaca Rawaca boosted the morale of young men of his village in Navatu, Kubulau, Bua.

This was after he donated two new sets of rugby uniforms on Boxing Day.

Rawaca and his wife Vika returned from France and travelled straight to Bua to spend Christmas with his family and relatives.

The donation was a gift from Rawaca’s Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Club.

Rawaca said it’s about giving back and motivating youths to utilise their rugby talents and follow his footsteps.

“This is about giving something back to my village,”Rawaca said.

“This is one of my objectives of helping young boys in our village.

“This is to boost their morale and give them the urge to be serious and utilise their talents and be like me.

“It was a gift from my club so I thought of giving it to the boys in the village and I want to thank my club at the management for this.”

Renowned for his physicality and aggressiveness on the rugby field, he made his debut for Fiji at the 2014 Gold Coast Sevens.

He was a member of the Osea Kolinisau-captained team which won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

He started his 15s career with Nadroga and was to join top English club Saracens after the Olympics but opted out and teamed up with La Rochelle Rugby Club in France.
