It may be tremendous to hit our local headlines, but making it to leading magazine, Traveller, described as an essential travel resource for Australians, means a lot.

In a recent issue by the Traveller, Marriott Fiji Momi Bay was voted as the Best New Overview Resort in its list of ‘World’s Best Hotels and Resorts of 2017’.

Marriott Fiji Momi Bay general manager Silvano Dressino said, “All associates of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay are excited for the resort to be voted as the Best New Overwater Resort.

“We are proud of our achievement, as it won’t be possible without our staff who provides brilliant service to our valued guests.”

The country’s first ever Marriott resort opened a few months ago after more than 10 years in the making.

“Like all of the new resorts, we faced quite a few challenges during the pre-opening phase and first months of operation.

“The major challenge was to open the resort in time, to complete the recruitment process, to introduce Marriott Brand standards and procedures for the first time in Fiji,” he said.

Marriott Hotels and Resorts is one of the most renowned hospitality brands in the world with over 570 hotels globally.

The Marriott brand brings new systems, processes and standards to Fiji that involves a lot of on-going training to exceed the expectations of its international guests.

“We are proud to say that we exceeded the expectations since our first nine months of opening and we could bring a lot of first time customers to Fiji to support the important tourism industry.

“Supported by our strong brand name, we have seen a tremendous interest in our key source markets, and the highlight was the episode of the Australian reality TV show, The Bachelorette, that was filmed at Fiji Marriott Resort, was watched by up to 2.2m national viewers,” he said.

This year, the resort’s goal is to become the number one resort in Fiji.

Mr Dressino said the resort is planning to further enhance the guests’ experience with new food and beverage concepts as well as product upgrades.
