Ministry of Education hotline number is expected to be rolled out in the next few days to help officials address complaints when the new school terms beginning on Monday.

Minister for Education, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, said the ministry had received complaints through various platforms and would make a full effort to address them.

“We want to set up a hotline because we are getting a lot of people with different complaints –some of them are genuine and some are not so genuine,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

“Sometimes they call up a media organisation with a complaint, but they don’t necessarily tell the full truth.

“We’ve also had complaints like that. We are going to set up a hotline in the next few days so people can channel those complaints through and it gives us a better mechanism while seeing through these complaints.”

A similar toll-free hotline — 151 — was implemented after the e-ticketing system was installed on public buses. It is believed that the education hotline will function in the same way.
