Veteran women’s lawn bowler Litia Tikoisuva (pictured) is looking forward to representing the country at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia in April.

The Nacavanadi, Gau native first represented Fiji at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand but only missed out at the 2010 Games in New Delhi, India. This was because Fiji was suspended from the Commonwealth.

At the 2006 Commonwealth Games she reached the quarterfinals and again in 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland where she lost in the quarterfinals of the fours and triple category.

“If I get picked I’m confident of making changes as I’ve not won any medal at the Commonwealth Games,” she said.

Tikoisuva is in a tough battle as she encounters the evergreen Sai Walker, Loretta Kotoisuva, Radhika Prasad, Sheryl Mar, Elizabeth Moceiwai and Dorine O’Connor who are also after a spot.

“Competition will be tough today and tomorrow. Another issue is when you come from a slow green like ours to a faster green in Australia, you’ve got to adapt early.”
