Defending champions of the Uprising Youth 7s, Tuva is on track to retain their title.

The side won their three matches in Pool A defeating Togobula 34- 0, 26-0 over Ratu Filise and the 28-5 thumping of Lomavata Kangaroos.

“We played well in all the pool games,” team captain Douglas Daveta said.

“It was all tough matches and we aim to retain the title for the tikina of Tuva.”

Daveta, Ilaisa Bosese, Napolioni Kurusiga, Kalaveti Ravouvou, Nemia Nawave and Rupenu Navucu played for the team in the past three years.

First Light Taveuni also had a tough encounter against Cuvu Blues winning 12-7, beat Nasainivalu 27-7 and beat RKS 17-14 in a pulsating encounter in the final Pool D match.

Coach Taito Kula said the team was inspired by the success of their senior team that won the 2017 Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s title.

“We wanted to win all the games in our pool and we did it,” said Kula.

The side includes Fijian U18 rep Marika Vularewa and Fijian U20 Livai Natave and try- scoring machine Lesi Tikovakaturaga.

The players are from Weilagi, Somosomo, Taveuni.
