Bula to all fellow car enthusiasts, and warm greetings again from the Fiji Car Club.

As eluded last week the Fiji Car Club anticipates an eventful 2018 and I share with you some of our upcoming events.

Awards Night

The Fiji Car Club is ready for the annual event – the 2017 awards night which will be held on February 17, 2018. However, the venue for the awards night has not been confirmed yet. We will confirm the venue next week and other details about the awards night.

The 2017 annual awards night is to honour and acknowledge our race car drivers for their hard work and dedication towards the Pacific Energy Quarter Mile Drag race series last year. We will provide the full list of the nominations later, so for all enthusiastic drivers out there, buy a copy of the Fiji Sun next week Saturday. We are excited to kick start this year with the annual awards night.

New Race Track

Fiji Car Club is planning to buy a piece land between the Wainadoi and Pacific Harbour.

As mentioned in a statement of mine early last year it is about time Fiji Car Club buys or secures a piece of land. So, in future Fiji would be able to host an international drag race tournament.

We know this is a big task but we must start somewhere.

The track we are currently holding the drag races is not suited for high performance, hence we are not able to record good times.

With the piece of land the club will be buying, we will make new tracks which will be of International standard and drivers will be able to clock good times. Good tracks will assist drivers to improve their performances also.

I now call on all car enthusiasts who know of a piece of land being put up for sale at the moment to notify me and assist in securing it. The land has to be 48 hectares and on flat land.

Once land is secured, work on the land will begin immediately.

Please be advised that membership for 2017 has been expired. Drivers who want to be a member of the Fiji Car Club needto register as soon as possible.

The benefits of becoming a member are as follows:

  1. Drivers will be allowed to park cars inside the park
  2. Free admission to the race

Requesting all members to register now and not later in the year.
