Building a better relationship between students and teachers is the key to taking the school forward, says the headgirl of Penang Sangam High School.

While speaking to Fiji Sun after the prefect induction ceremony yesterday, Deepsha Lal, 18, said she hoped to make improvements to the school to get it back to what it used to be.

“Being given this role comes with great responsibility and this is a great honor and privilege,” headgirl Deepsha said.

“As headgirl of the school I have been tasked to make improvements and this can only be done if students and teachers work together.

“I have really worked hard, this was not an easy journey as some people may presume, but I am happy that all the work is paid off.”

She hopes to follow in her parent’s footsteps and become an accountant.

Meanwhile, the headboy, Munish Goundar, said he would show dedication and commitment to his new role.

“Like any child with a dream, I have always wanted to be a leader, so today (yesterday) my dreams have come true,” Munish said.

“I will vow to show commitment to my new role and dedication to the students.

“This is a milestone achievement for my family being the first in the family to the school head.

“Now with such a huge responsibility I will have to learn to juggle my school work and my duties.”

Munish aspires to be an accountant after completing his tertiary education.
