FMF Foods Limited has completed the upgrading of its warehouse facilities at Navutu in Lautoka at a cost of $1.8 million.

With the upgrade, the property was now worth around $25 million.

This was part of the upgrading of FMF’s facilities and factories which would cost close to $36 million.

FMF Executive Director Rohit Punja, said the property in Navutu was bought in 2004 and some work was done on it then.

“It was half the size of what it is now and last year we did major renovation and extended it by another 4000 sq meters.”

Yesterday, FMF chairman, Hari Punja and his wife Tara and sons Rohit and Ajay with their families, staff and guests held a special pooja that signified the completion of all upgrading works.

“We put an extra warehouse on the side and created the new office.

“The whole size of it now is a little over two acres so it is above 8000sq metres.”

Mr Punja said the warehouse was to look after FMF supplies to customers in the Western Division.

“The offices are all new and renovated with totally new roofing for the entire building.

“FMF is going through major upgrade in of all its plants.

“That includes our packaging, rice mills and the Chow noodles factory,” he said.

Mr Punja said the noodles were so popular that even with extra shifts they were working hard to meet the high demand.

“That’s the next big expansion but because of the high costs for upgrading we plan to spread it over the next three years.”

Also FMF was expected to award a tender in the next 60 days for the construction of a new warehouse at Bounty Street in Walu Bay, Suva.

FMF recently saw the completion of their newly built Biscuit Factory in Veisari followed by the new head office upgrade at Walu Bay which was expected to be fully operational by April this year.
