March 12 to decide trial date for Ra 44 accused of sedition

The case concerning 44 peo­ple in Ra charged with se­dition and urging political violence has been adjourned to March 12, 2018 to fix a trial date.

The 44 accused persons in this case are charged in relation to the para-military style training in the Ra area in the Western Division between January 1 and July 31, 2015.

The accused Timoci Nagata, Pita Vakatawa, Saimoni Nacolawa, Mosese Tawake, Esa Namure, Jone Fatiaki, Vive Naiyo, Samu­ela Nabenia, Salimoni Serua, Il­aitia Korolala, Semi Uquequ, Meli Nasalasala, Viliame Baravilala, Jese Vatusumu, Meli Waqabaca, Penasio Luqa, Joseva Caucau, Isereli Serewai, Rokoua Duatini and Filimoni Naloga are charged with sedition and urging political violence.

The others charged with urging political violence are: Timoci Na­colatabisa, Apenisa Tucaketale, Qalita Vakacegu, Inoke Navunil­agi, Viliame Nasau, Tomaci Madi­gibuli, Mitieli Raituku, Vosavosa Tunakoro, Maciu Uto, Vetaia Dale, Fonomanu Meresio, Temesi Waqa, Sevanaia Qaranivalu, Metereti Vunisa, Apimeleki Wailomo, Josua Navaluvou, Marika Qalo, Manueli Nadakula, Tevita Damu­damu, Jese Vatusumu, Senaila Mariqama, Jolame Turagabeci, Tomasi Kacanavatu, Livai Take­maicakaudrove and Peceli Nay­adra.

All accused persons pleaded not guilty to the amended consolidat­ed Information.

All accused persons were present at the High Court in Lautoka on Monday.

Bail has been extended to all 44 accused.
