Pacific Flying School (PFS) instructor Iliesa Tawalo’s funeral will be held in Nadi tomorrow.

This was confirmed by an aunt, Tauri Qerenawaqa at their home in Beverly Hills in Votualevu, Nadi yesterday.

The late Mr Tawalo was one of the two victims on board Cessna 172 Aircraft which crashed in Delaikoro Ridge in Macuata on February 26.

The aircraft was on a routine training flight when it also claimed the life of 21-year-old trainee pilot, Merelesita Lutu.

Ms Qerenawaqa said that preparation had begun with the set up of the sheds within their compound.

“Iliesa’s body will be flown from Labasa on Thursday and will visit the Pacific Flying School hangar for one last time before he is laid to eternal rest at the Enamanu Cemetery,” she said.

“The reguregu is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.”

She added that Nadi Muslim College Ex-students Association and the Queen Victoria School Old Boys Association members are expected to present their reguregu on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, an obituary was placed in the Fiji Sun by Pacific Flying School.

It says: “With deep sadness, we the family and the Pacific Flying School advise the passing of our colleague, flight instructor, son, brother, uncle, grandson and dear friend to many; Iliesa Tawalo.”

It also include a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci who once said, “For once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward for there you have been and there you will long to return”.

The reguregu will be held at the family residence, Lot 1 Beverly Hills, Votualevu starting today.

Ulamila Lutu, on behalf of the Lutu family said they were overwhelmed by the tremendous support and sentiments shown by family, friends and the general public.

“We are sincerely grateful and humbled for all your support in prayers and in kind,” she said.

The traditional reguregu protocols willbegin on Thursday March 8 at the family residence at 21 Narain Place, off Princes Road (Opposite the Vodafone headquarters), Suva. She will be laid to eternal rest on Friday March 9 (Place and time of service to be confirmed).
