Samoa A head coach Brian Lima strongly believes his experienced players will take charge as they play their opening match of the Pacific Rugby challenge against Fiji Airways Fijian Warriors team at 5pm tomorrow.

“Preparations have been going well and I think the players have started picking up on some planning and some structures we can apply during our first match against the Fiji Warriors,” Lima said.

“We had only had two weeks of training prior to our arrival to Fiji. We are pleased to have some experienced players who have represented some of the local under 23 clubs in Samoa.

“And I think it is a great development for the players to compete in such a competition as they have proceeded from the under 20’s.”

The former Manu Samoa captain Lima commended the positive attitude of players.

“I am happy with the positive mindset and attitude by these players when they joined the side. We expect to give our best shot when we take on the Warriors and hope the boys  deliver.

“We have two players in the side who were part of the Samoa 7s team that won gold medal during the recent Pacific Mini Games and we are hopeful their presence would be a boost for the team.

“Some of these players are Samoan-based and will be moving to play in clubs in New Zealand as well as further their studies too and I think competing in the PRC is a great platform for the players to expand and develop their skills.”
