Former students of Queen Victoria School stood in solidarity yesterday to farewell old boy the late Pacific Flying School Instructor Iliesa Tawalo at Enamanu Cemetery in Nadi.

They were given the responsibility to carry out the final burial rites after which they gathered to sing the school song ‘Vulinitu Au Na Cibi’.

Former class mate Simione Ralagi said that Tawalo was known to them during schools day at Queen Victoria School as ‘maiste’.

“All of us here are former classmates of Tawalo, this is the QVS class of 2004, he was a very humble boy back in school and this is something we will always remember about him,” Mr Ralagi said.

Tawalo, 31, was always involved in church activities ever since high school, Mr Ralagi said.

“He has never changed, the same Tawalo we knew since high school till today, has always been the same and he had never changed, the same old person who prays and reads the bible,” Mr Ralagi added.

The last he had spoken with the late Mr Tawalo was last year when they planned for a mini class reunion.

Another former school mate, Aminiasi Kunagodo, said he shared the same sentiments.

“In 2005 we joined the flying school together, I remember he had a great impact on my life because every time when I want to give up, he will always encourage me,” Mr Kunagodo said.
