The Embassy of Japan signed a grant agreement with  Habitat for Humanity Fiji for rehabilitation works on the water supply systems at Naga Village in Tavua and Tubenasolo Village in Nadi. The Habitat for Humanity Fiji received $142,887.

During the signing of the agreement last Thursday, the Charge d’Affaires ad interim for Japan Embassy, Tsuguyoshi Hada, said, Naga Village used a spring catchment for the collection of water and reticulation system which services as the distribution line to the community.

“The large volume of water is wasted due to the leakages in the pipes that connect the water system to the village,”he said.

“Tubenasolo Village does not have a roper reticulation system and relies on the river water for their daily needs. The rehabilitation works will ensure that both villages have access to clean and safe water throughout the year.

“Recognising the difficulties faced by Naga and Tubenasolo Village, the Embassy of Japan decided to assist both villages,” Mr Hada said.

Habitat for Humanity Fiji national director Masi Latianara said the people of the two communities were grateful of the assistance provided by the Embassy of Japan.
