The Kalivati Volavola skippered Cuvu Blues side is gunning for a victory over Noinabua Hurricanes in the round three of Super 8 Rugby franchise competition at Lawaqa Park this Saturday.

Team manager Eapi Deku said they will set the tone for the remainder of the games as the Blues are leading Pool B points table with eight points from two victories respectively.

“We are still unbeaten in our pool which has been our aim from day one of the competition,” he said.

“We aim to beat the Tuva Hurricanes this week, with this possibility will match us a semi-final berth. We don’t have any Nadroga reps in the side but all are village boys but the aim for them to develop and show their talents to the selectors of Nadroga Rugby.

“We praised the format of Super 8 it is unearthing a lot of hidden talents out there.”

The Blues are training under the watchful eyes of former Flying Fijian Aca Ratuva who has vast experience behind the drive for the team.

Former national 7’s rep Mitieli Nacagilevu won’t be playing for the Nokonoko-Waicoba Crusaders against undefeated Tuva Highlanders.

The Crusaders will be banking on former Nadroga rep Ulaiasi Lawavou (number 8) and skipper Iosefo Tania.

Team coach Aisea Vasutoga said, “Our aim is get another win which is very important for the side and we are hungry for it.”

The Sigatoka Bulls is laced with the services of Nadroga skipper Rupeni Nahiga, Sakiusa Gavidi, Setefano Samoca, Apete Salawaqavuka, Luke Salaba, and Samisoni Navatu will face the Vili Lomaloma skippered Conua Chiefs.

The side also have the services of Fiji Warriors squad member Save Navuniyarau to play at wing while Lomaloma to star at number 8.

Team manager Semi Qaranivalu said; “The team is not in camp as all are camping in their own homes unlike other teams but the spirit is to give a good game against the Bulls. We have prepared well for that.”

Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu thanked the sponsors for the inaugural event in the likes of Goodman Fielder, Flying Fin, BLK, Sigatoka Electric, Mana Whey, FRU and the partnership with Ministry of Health through the Wellness programme.
