Housing Authority CEO Sethi Resigns

The Housing Authority of Fiji chief executive officer, Punit Sethi, has resigned, it was announced yesterday.

The Indian national’s resignation comes less than a year after Housing Authority’s current acting board chairman Umarji Musa announced his appointment last June on a three-year term.

Housing Authority board director Nesbitt Hazelman in an interview yesterday said Mr Sethi had not given a reason for his resignation

“The board felt that it was an opportunity for him to move on because we are not, really, too happy with what we’ve achieved to date,” Mr Hazelman said.

“He put in his resignation and we accepted it under the provisions of the contract.”

Mr Hazelman said Mr Sethi was still under probation after it had been extended beyond the six months stipulated in his contract.

“He was paid his dues, which included his accumulated leave and all other provisions.

Mr Hazelman said the board felt Mr Sethi was looking for opportunities elsehwere while the CEO.

According to a media release, an acting CEO would be announced once the board holds consultations with the Minister for Housing, Parveen Bala.

Mr Sethi left for India yesterday, the statement said.

He held degrees in Bachelor of Technology (civil), Master of Technology, Master of Science, Master in Business Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in quality business management, according to the Housing Authority website.
